Destigmatisation Training

Destigmatisation Training This training aims to increase knowledge and skills in working with people who use drugs (PWUD). What we cover: Explore and reflect on personal perceptions and beliefs of people who use drugs Identify how these perceptions and beliefs affect behaviour and interactions with patients and clients Safely challenge personally held stereotypes using evidence Develop empathy for people who use drugs by sharing lived experiences Identify strategies to reshape patient and client interactions into more positive therapeutic relationships.. Audience: This training is designed for any staff that work with PWUD, including clinicians and non-clinicians such as community services, AOD services and any other health care services.  Session plan is delivered over 2 hours, however, we can provide tailored short and intensive sessions on request. Locations: Darwin. Sex Industry Awareness in the NT

Sex Work and Laws – NT & Nationally Presented by sex worker representaives from SWOP NT and the SWRG. This session directly connects course particants to sex workers who impart collective knowledge that ensures participants fully understand barriers for sex workers to health and justice services due to stigma, discrimination and unjust and couterproductive laws. The training also explains why the full decriminalisation of sex work is essentil to acheive the best possible public health outcomes.   • What is Pep?

    Post Exposure Prophylaxis (PEP) is the administration of antiretroviral HIV medications for 28 days, commenced within 72 hours of possible exposure to HIV infection.


    PEP has been shown to reduce the risk of HIV infection following needle stick injuries to healthcare workers by 81%. However, it is unknown whether it is effective following sexual exposure, though animal and laboratory studies suggest that it is likely to be.


    Go to your local Hospital Emergency Department and ask for PEP with in 72 hours.

  • What is PreP

    PrEP stands for Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis. This is a way of protecting yourself from getting HIV by taking a tablet once a day every day. PrEP does not prevent you from other infections that you can get when having sex, so it is still important to use condoms to be protected from these.
