NTAHC's Health Promotion and Communications team works to generate awareness within the community about BBVs and STIs, in particular by creating health promotion campaigns and resources targeting NTAHC priority populations.
We coordinate an annual calendar of events through our offices in Alice Springs and Darwin recognising national and international health promotion days of significance. Our resources and campaign collateral reflect NTAHC’s key messages and strategic plan.
These resources are designed to promote NTAHC services, explain our policy positions and convey our organisational objectives to stakeholders and the wider community. They are developed in collaboration with our Executive Director, program staff and clients.
NTAHC’s Health Promotion and Communications team designs health awareness campaigns promoting the benefits of practicing safer sex, testing and treatment. These often coincide with national and international health promotion days of significance.
Program-specific resources are developed in consultation with program staff to ensure that they are culturally-appropriate and sensitive to client needs. Examples include flyers and posters promoting support sessions with the SWOP Sex Worker Reference Group, and Care and Support Program Positivity Support Group.
Throughout the year, our communications team organises and promotes a range of events designed to maintain NTAHC’s visibility within the community and demonstrate support for our clients, stakeholders and priority populations.
Days of significance, such as the International AIDS Candlelight Memorial, World Hepatitis Day and World AIDS Day, provide opportunities for NTAHC staff to engage the public with health promotion messages, and breakdown social stigma by showing solidarity with our clients, their friends and family.
The Health Promotion and Communications team also administers NTAHC's online presence via our website and social media channels.
We have a range of resources available on our LEARN page, click the button and check them out.
Every year NTAHC hosts three Signature events. They are World AIDS Day, World Hepatitis Day and the AIDS Candlelight Memorial Vigil.
We also host events for International Drug Users Day, Overdose Awareness Day, Stop Violence against Sex Workers Day and Rights for Sex Workers Day.
