"This week we are celebrating International Sex Worker Pride.
Someone you love and respect is a sex worker or access their services! So, tell us how much you care and support our work!
Today is a day to reach out and tell us how incredibly important the work of sex workers is to you!
Today we reflect on the strength and resilience of sex workers across the world. We celebrate our right to be, to strive for equity and safety and to work freely without paternalistic approaches.
Sex workers in the Northern Territory reflect on years of advocacy and hard work that has taken place, which successfully decriminalised sex work in the Northern Territory through amendments to the Planning Act (2020) and the passing of Sex Industry Act (2019).
In 2022 we are also a step closer to being protected against discrimination and vilification through the last stages of amending the NT Anti-Discrimination Act Exposure draft Bill.
SWOP NT wishes to thank every sex worker who has been a part of the Sex Worker Reference Group (SWRG). Together we have submitted strong case studies, submissions and testimonies to the Northern Territory Government, leading to law reform and positive change. We have successfully stuck boots into the cogs of injustice, we have stopped the machine of criminalisation and punitive approaches to our work, which has ignored our rights for so long!
This is our week of celebration and pride.
This is Whore Pride...
